Roy Hamilton's 1958 hit "Don't Let Go" served as a template and road map for the burgeoning rock n roll genre. The song evokes the genre's jump blues roots with vibrant horns, while integrating the supper club savoir faire with Hamilton's debonair vocals. Plus, there's the explosive sexual (sub)text of the lyrics ("Come on baby/It's time to rock"). No wonder the song found favor among R&B, pop, and rockabilly. Isaac Hayes even resurrected the song for the discoteques in the late 70s. We'll profile this song and its songwriter Jesse Stone, considered one of the architects of rock n roll.
