Two Hour Special and Interview with Rusty Young of Poco on WMBR's Lost & Found Program

Was aired on the program: Tuesday, August 6, 2019
12:00pm - 2:00pm

What do you get when Richie Furay of Buffalo Springfield (known for the band Stephen Still and Neil Young made news with), Jim Messina (later of Loggins and Messina) Randy Meisner (a founder of The Eagles), Rusty Young (of Colorado garage rockers Boenzee Cryque), and George Grantham join forces in 1968? It's the band Poco. Poco came along during the first wave of country rock, putting their indelible stamp on the genre, influencing many practitioners who arrived after. Their early hits (1970-'72) included "You Better Think Twice," "C'mon," and the great but not quite there chart-wise "A Good Feelin' to Know." Later, in 1979, they released the blockbusters "Crazy Love" and "Heart of the Night." Poco has now surpassed their 50th year, and multi-instrumentalist (but most known for his pedal steel work) Rusty Young, the only original member of the band left, tells the story. Poco appears with Pure Prairie League and the Atlanta Rhythm Section at the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset, MA on Saturday, August 17.
