Harry Sandler of Orpheus Reborn interviewed live on WMBR's Lost & Found Program

Was aired on the program: Tuesday, June 19, 2007
1:00pm - 2:00pm

Harry Sandler of late 60's Boston area band Orpheus and now with Orpheus Reborn, will join host Eli Polonsky for a live in-studio interview beginning at about 1:00 PM, possibly with other band members to be announced. The band that was to become Orpheus was formed from members of various mid-60's folk groups from the Worcester, MA area. The band, including founding member Jack McKennes and others, decided to "go electric" in 1967 with the addition of bassist Eric Gulliksen and drummer Harry Sandler from popular Boston area surf band The Mods. The first Orpheus album was released in January, 1968 and the single "Can't Find The Time" became a regional hit, reaching the Top Ten in many major cities in the Northeast. The lush ballad was an inspired predecessor of the sound that would become labeled as "soft rock" and is still played on "oldies" and "soft rock" radio stations in the area today. After three succesful albums and opening concerts for many of the biggest rock acts of the late 60's, Orpheus disbanded in December, 1969. In 2004, the afforementioned members of Orpheus along with contributing member Stephen Martin and new members Robert Emmet Dunlap and Kathi Taylor formed Orpheus Reborn, a new band looking forward and playing new material in a wide variety of styles, plus some new twists on a few old favorites. Orpheus Reborn will be opening for The Strawbs at the Regent Theatre in Arlington on Friday, June 22nd.
